Glacier Rock and the Rock View Cafe is located 16km from Victor Harbor on the Inman Valley road heading to Yankalilla.
The restaurants founder Dave Hill, the chef extraordinary who is the "unofficial keeper" of the Glacier Rock.
This remarkable piece of geological history, which is estimated to be over 250 million years old is one of the worlds largest exposed glacial pavements along with the maybe 30 tonne granite boulder lodged in the river bank which is called an erratic and was carried by ice from Granite Island (about 20km away) An impressive demonstration of the forces of nature.
Thankfully you don't have to be Indiana Jones to experience the rock close up with steps down to the rock viewing platform. For the adventurous ones you can wander across the river and walk upon this great piece of history.
Dave Hill has now retired and handed over his beautiful Cafe' and Restaurant to David, Teresa and their family who will offer the same great food and hospitality Dave Hill has done for the past 20 years.
